Crosswinds has made an everlasting impact on my life that will never be forgotten. If there had been no Crosswinds for me to go to, my life would have been one of overall failure and much misery.

I was a self-destructive teenage girl who was looking for love in all the wrong places. I got caught up in the wrong crowd and was introduced to drugs. Not long after I entered my rebellious stage, I was arrested on a domestic violence charge. After various charges and spending four months in a juvenile detention facility, I was sentenced to two years’ probation.

As soon as I started at Rainwater Center, I found belonging and acceptance. Rainwater didn’t just teach me my required education. They also offered weekly counseling and classes teaching us to deal with real world conflicts such as health issues, how to relieve stress, job hunting skills, ways to deal with people, and many more.

After ten months, I successfully graduated with a 3.5 GPA. I managed to maintain no lower than a 3.4 until my high school graduation. I now attend Brevard Community College and will further my education in criminal justice. My ultimate goal is to become a director for a program like Rainwater so that I may help young people who are having problems as I had. Still to this day, I keep in touch with the people who touched my life at Crosswinds. Crosswinds has made an everlasting impact on my life that will never be forgotten. If there had been no Crosswinds for me to go to, my life would have been one of overall failure and much misery.
